Hound Dog started out with a product that was fashioned from parts that were cut and shaped out of a car hood. It had prongs on the end that easily pulled weeds from a standing position. The inventor had a back injury and was looking for an easy and effective way to remove weeds from his yard without straining his back or using chemicals. Thus, the Weed Hound was born. From its modest beginnings, Hound Dog has grown to eleven home groundskeeping tools. Of which three are patented and one patent pending. In April of 2006 Hound Dog was aquired by Ames True Temper, which is North America’s leading, as well as oldest, manufacturer of non-powered lawn and garden tools. Ames True Temper has been manufacturing and selling innovative lawn and garden tools since 1774. This aquisition provides the Hound Dog brand with better resources and increased product innovation capabilities. Today, Hound Dog continues “sniffing out” new and better ways to make groundskeeping easy and more enjoyable.
