Studies show that protective properties of hard hats and suspensions will degrade over time due to normal wear and tear. Just like you, it'll only take so many hits to the head! Adverse conditions such as extreme temperatures and exposure to chemicals can cause the hat and suspension to degrade quicker.

Hard hat suspensions are recommended to be replaced once a year under normal conditions.
